Mendlesham Bowls Club

Mendlesham Bowls Club was formed in 1912, playing in the garden of The Hollies. The land now occupied by the club was gifted by the Cutting's many years later. The club membership is a little over 30, with ages ranging from 15 to 80+. The club plays  in the  Stowmarket and District Bowls League and the Upper Waveney League. Matches typically take place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 18:00 and 21:30 and Tuesday afternoons from 14:00 -17:00. A mix of home and away games around Suffolk and South Norfolk. Transport to away matches is shared, even if you do not drive we will get you there.

The individual club competitions take place throughout the season, these are run on a knock out basis with dates and times mutually agreed between players to meet a preset date for each round.

At the start of the season Friday evenings host "roll ups”,  home based friendship games to learn and improve, these continue for as long as required. The green is also open to members at other times just requiring a call to the Greens Keeper to avoid maintenance times.

There is no pressure to play in league matches, however, there are plenty of opportunities to join in the  club competitions typically played on either a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, and are fun and entertaining to join for any level of player, plus the bar is open for all home events.

Adult membership for 2024 is  £30.  There is a small additional cost of £3 for each of the club competitions entered. Also Rink Fees are collected for each match amounting to £3.00.
